With the Home Depot carbide drill.......around 5 minutes per stud to drill
it them out. This was after wasting a LOT of time with other drills and
broken easy-outs.
I imagine that trying to tap the holes is also a real PITA, because it's so
hard to get the broken stud drilled out straight. Going with the longer
stud, and using top-bottom nuts to hold it to the manifold worked out well
for me.

Just have to drill it out and re-tap. Takes a good 1 hr to do
that (per stud) to drill out, remove, re-tap, and thread in a new one.
