If it's what I think you're referring to, it's the slop in the transmission.
Most evident in low gears and occurs when transitioning from engine drive to
engine braking.

With the car in gear, at throttle, the engine is turning the transmission.
As you back off the throttle, the engine and tranny will eventually be
turning at the same rate, neither accelerating or decelerating.  As the
engine speed slows, it will be slower than the transmission at which point
the transmission is turning the engine.  The jerky motion occurs at this
transition point, where the transmission goes from being driven by the
engine to driving the engine.

This is an annoyance at times, and all I can suggest is that you use the
clutch more or leave the car in higher gears.  There is nothing wrong with
the car itself.  Except maybe a bit too much gap in the gear teeth.
