All the symptoms you describe were what I experienced which led me to
install
an assist device on the brake pedal (bungee cord) to verify that lack of
pedal
return was the problem.  Last thing I wanted to do was replace the
booster if
that wasn't the problem (too much work for shotgunning).  In the initial
phase
when I didn't have a clue it was probably brake fade from overheating
that led
to the reduced braking action events - at that time it was still on
factory
brake pads.  It was evident that the brakes were dragging on more than
one
occasion but why they were dragging took some time to diagnose since it
was
intermittent.
