"Per the Jan. 2003 issue of Motor Trend in the News section: Ford and GM
announced they will share development of an all new 6-speed automatic
transmission for V6 and V8 powered front drive cars and AWD crossover
vehicles. It will feature conventional planetary gears and a torque
converter, have evenly spaced gears and a high torque capacity. Ford will
use GM's design and pay royalties for its use. Production is scheduled for
mid decade.

Who will be the first to use this gearbox in a SHO?"

Uhhhh, yeah, the 6-speed auto is very old news. Been up on the site since
Dec '02/Jan '03.
