[Shotimes] 141 MPH Speeding Ticket

Wisconsin HP absolutely sucks. They set up on 94 North preying on drivers
coming in from Illinois that are used to a little more lax speed
enforcement. I went up there to look at a SHO about a month ago and on our
short stay on 94 (30 miles) we saw a cop with someone pulled over, every 5
minutes. At one point there was a single car facing against traffic
clocking cars and radioing up ahead to the 20 or so additional cars parked
on the side of the road, informing them who to pull over.

I've had my share of scares in the SHO. About a year ago I had just picked
up a new (to me) 93' and was stretching it's legs on the expressway. At
about 120mph my radar detector started going nuts. I looked to my left and
saw a cop sitting in the median; we actually made eye contact. As I
rocketed by, front of the car significantly lower than the rear, the cop
pulls out. I immediately pull to the side of the road and throw on the
emergency flashers in an attempt to scavenge some sympathy out of the
trooper. Apparently it worked... Lights and sirens blaring, he gets all the
way over in the right lane, and slowly drives by shaking his head and
smiling.

Another more interesting jaunt we had was with a buddy of mine. We were
cruising along in the left lane at about 120mph and there was a car about
1500 feet in front of us, so we signaled and moved to the middle lane, when
low and behold, another car was another 1500 feet in front of us, a mid 90's
beat up Crown Vic. Mind you this was about 8 months ago and to our
knowledge Illinois hasn't used these for awhile. We go to approach the
Crown Vic and make the same lane change when we both realize what the car
was and managed to get "Oh F*ck!" out in unison before the excitement
ensued. At this point Josh's Bobcat pads and brake bias plugs were put to
the test as my buddy just stood on the brakes. As luck would have it, this
puts us in the right lane right along side the cop that is in the center
lane. As we continue this stop we are still dead even, front window to
front window, with this cop. At the point where we got down to 60mph and we
*still* even with the cop, he looks over, shakes his head, gets behind us
and hits the lights. The dialoge ensues:

Cop: What were you going to stop in the middle of the expressway so you
didn't have to pass me?
Buddy: I'm sorry.
Cop (takes license and insurance): I hope you have a really good driving
record.
Buddy: I do
Cop (5 minutes later comes and hands the insurance and license back): I have
no idea how fast you were going but it was too fast. Slow your ass down.

Best Regards,

Mike
