Also keep in mind that the Mustang II had some very good sales years in the
mid '70s.
In & of itself, it also wasn't a bad car....although considering the Mustang
lineage, it was a bit hard to take!!
Folks who weren't there really can't judge the cars of the '70s without
looking at all of what was available. There is a good reason why car
enthusiasts were heavy into custom vans back in those years!!
Some engines made it through '72 unscathed (Chrysler 340 comes to mind), by
all were poopy by '73.

That's how I feel about the Mustang II. My brother had one with the 302 and
what a dog. Of course this was during the initial emissions controlled
engines as that all started in '71, IIRC. '72 for sure.
