Oh, absolutely!! I'm sure that it's the same issue with a lot of cars. I
wonder how the hell Mercury dealers EVER sold any Merkurs!!

FWIW, for the 15 or so new cars I've purchased, I have NEVER had a
salesperson who knew more about the car than I did! I must say, though, the
Subie salesman I have was sharper than ,most on it, but I was more up on
some of the options than he was.....maybe an unfair comparison, as being a
new model (June, 2004), option choice are changing monthly.

Now, the "loaded" ATX SHOs sold well, but there were a number of reasons for
that.....and many had nothing to do with the performance aspect of it.

Personally I feel the SHOs sales numbers are solely a result of Ford's 
mucked up sales campaigns.  Seems they just expected people to come in and 
buy the "loaded" Taurus.
