[Shotimes] are Al flywheels worth it?

For a street SHO, (clutch replacements, flywheel resurfacing, drivability,
extra heat generated from slipping it in traffic, etc) I'd stay with the
stocker.

The "flywheel effect" really only makes a difference in the first couple of
gears where the rpm sweep rate is faster. Once you get to 3rd and beyond,
the rev rate is so slow anyway, the difference isn't really noticable. I
ran my 89 at the drags both with the stock flywheel, and the 8 lb SS unit.
My fastest ET ever (n/a) was with the stocker, and adding the alum didn't
make any difference in ET or mph. Only thing it did was make it harder to
launch.

For open track, it's nice, since you are pulling 13 lbs off the nose of the
car, and might make a bit of more noticable difference on a lightened car
that's being wound out all the time.
