[Shotimes] parking brake idiot light

Ian,
Only three things are supposed to activate the BRAKE indicator during normal
vehicle operation.
1. The E-brake switch is activated
2. The float switch in the reservoir senses low fluid level.
3. The third time is when the ignition switch is in the START position.
On DRL-equipped vehicles, the e-brake switch signal is routed through the
DRL module (DRL Disable Function) via a switching diode, then on to the
lamp. On non DRL-equipped vehicles that were DRL-capable, there should be a
plug installed in the DRL connector that properly routes the switch signal
back to the BRAKE indicator.
In all cases, the input to the BRAKE light is a ground signal as the
opposite side of the bulb is hot when the ignition is in START or RUN.
My guess is that either your e-brake switch is flaky, misadjusted, or the
wire lead has developed an intermittent open. You can test it by grounding
the connector, the flexing and wiggling the wire to see it the light
flickers or goes out.
