[Shotimes] OBD II scanner tool advice

Thanks to everyone for their advice on the rear brake job.  Everything went 
smoothly using the AutoZone loaner tools.

I'm looking to get a OBD II code scanner for my other (newer) vehicles - the 
kind that use a laptop and serial port connector cable.  The V8 crowd uses 
OBD II, I think.

I've looked on Ebay and found several companies, but none seem to stand out 
in service or product.

Any comments/advice on people's experiences with them will be greatly 
appreciated.  A tool that will also let me read the SHO's codes would be a 
real bonus.
