Thanks, Scot. I did a little more searching and found an old post that mentioned the capacity being around 2 gallons, so I poured in a gallon of antifreeze and topped off with water. Now I guess I've only got a 33% glycol mix. Once upon a time, I seem to remember that there was a range that was considered acceptable. Does this still apply, or should I really try to get it to 50/50. How does one go about measuring the percentage of glycol in the mix? This all reminds me of high school algebra: If Frank has 3 gallons of a 33% glycol mixture, how much fluid needs to be drained and replaced with 100% glycol to end up with a 50% glycol mix :-)

Frank,

Cooling system capacity is about 3 gallons, when I've flushed with water you
will need about 2 gallons to fill it back up. About a gallon stays behind
in the block. I would go with a 75/25 glycol/water mix to get a 50/50 mix
in the end. You could also pull the drain plugs on the bottom of the block
to get most of the water out.

> I don't have my Helm's with me (thermostat replacement, coolant
flush--didn't need the Helms). Does anyone know the cooling system
capacity? I just used the "long hose from radiator hose, run engine, feed
water into the radiator" method, so it just has straight water in it now.
