[Shotimes] Tachometer and Paint

Greetings,
I know that I have asked this question before about the tachometer, but all
this stuff about it reading off the coil pack has renewed my hope that I
might get an answer.  A little background: For the past 1 1/2 year or so, my
tach has read erratically, i.e.: it is pegging 8 grand just as the
secondaries open up, etc.  I thought maybe the stupid thing was broken but
suddenly, yesterday, it started reading correctly.  So, maybe I have a loose
or bad connection (all though one that was off for so long boggles the
mind).  The only sensor that has anything to do with this (as far as my pea
brain knows) that hasn't been replaced is the DIS.  There does not seem to
be other SHO owners around here in Jacksonville or at least not on this list
that I could swap that out and check.  Does anyone have any ideas?
Next, I have issues with my clear coat peeling on my hood and spoiler.  I
don't have the money for even a poor man's paint job.  The cheapest quote
that I received was north of six hundred bucks because of the sanding and
such that is required.  So anyway, it's not a very big area and I would love
to hear any ideas about keeping it from peeling further.  Or am I just SOL?
Any and all suggestions, complaints and or tirades would be appreciated.
