IT happened a few years ago, the American version of
europeon and Australia sedan racing. BMW 3 series, Dodge
Stratus, Honda Civic etc. Forgot the official name.
Lasted two or three years. Dodge was the only manufacturer
to get involved and they won the title two years straight.
It was GREAT racing, using the actual cars, and most of the
actual motor. All had race quality trans, and the "ricer"
look that you see a lot of (huge negative camber) comes from
that series.
too bad GM and Ford didn't get involved. One guy ran a
Contour, one guy ran a Pontiac, the rest were imports and
the Dodge two car team with David Donohue as one driver.
I am sorry I never got to see on in person, but I watched
every race on TV, it totally blew away F1, Cart, IRL and
Nascar for excitement. Cars rubbing, bumpers flying,
passing everywhere, all the time. Close racing, lots of
speed, all the fun tracks.
