Jim,

I've had good luck with "Audio Cleaning Lab" software from Magix
(www.magix.com).  I've got over 700 cassette tapes and I've converted less
than 50 (so far) to CD.  The software has a Declicker, Decrackler, Denoiser
(buzzing and droning), Dehisser, 10-band Equalizer and a lot more.  You can
burn to CDs or DVDs in regular CD-format (.WAV) or MP3-format.  I bought a
new tape deck at Circuit City for <$100 just for playback.  You should
obviously buy a new stylus and record cleaning kit.
