For hardware types, a driver is something that takes a low current 
signal and converts it to a high current. So a relay is one type of 
driver. But there are several possible drivers that could be bad: a 
driver on the chip itself that sends the signal to an output pin; a 
transistor or separate small amplifier on the module that sends the 
signal from the output pin to  a longer wire; or a relay somewhere 
(like the CCRM) that sends voltage to something like the fuel pump.
