[Shotimes] universal throttle cable innards?

ive got a grabby throttle cable,makes driving smoothly immpossible.ive got a
friend thats a ford mechanic,he suggested using a universal cable.i guess it
uses the outside of the original cable and replaces the inside actual
cable,but he wasnt sure if the ends would be right.
im not sure this would fix my problem.i tried spraying some pb blaster in the
tb end of the cable and working the cable,seems to have made it worse.
any suggestions?
