there is a quality factor to look into as well. I am reminded of this
a lot nto by my car. Although it is a quality hunk of rust, but by my
motorcycle. It's a 1985 bmw, and it is pretty darn solid. Ok, I had
to clean the starter and replace the fuel pump (with an old on from my
SHO no less), but that's not much. It was a really well built bike,
and with 72,000 miles on it it still runs like a sewing machine. Not
too many bikes from 85 are running around with that kind of milage and
that low of a maintnance budget.

Right now it's in pieces on my floor in the barn becasue after 20
years of service (not all for me - only about 2) it could use a little
cleanup. And I mean cleanup, it ran fine when i drove it into the
barn, and i am sure it will when it leaves. it is just getting a nice
cleaning/painting/inspection before the next season of riding comes.

So there has to be a quality factor thrown in there too. The SHO is a
pretty dood quality item, much better than say a KIA. I think a 10
year old Kia, or daewoo, or Suzuki, does or will, look and cost a lot
more to keep going than a 10 year old SHO.
