Nope...they're not softer. They're a tad stiffer, and as the name says, can carry a
big load in the trunk without drooping the fenders down to the rims. I've had them
on Lowrider for 5 years or so, and they still hold it up just right. When they were
younger, they hauled a BUNCH of tools, jacks, and suitcases across the country to
conventions with the car sitting just like it should have been.
If they raise the back of your car up too much, you can lower the strut in the
knuckle plenty (unlike the front end), enough to set the rear ride height just to
what you want. With the struts bolted into the knuckle in the proper place, measure
the height you want vs. the height you have. Then loosen the pinch bolt, lower the
strut the inch or so you want to lower it, and redrill the flange in back of the
strut, so that the bolt will go through.
Piece of cake. Then, as time goes by and the car settles a bit, you can raise it
back up. Too bad we can't do that in the front....then Lowrider would REALLY be
Lowrider, and not kill the CV joints.
