I would argue that Ford used the same in tank sender and gauge on all the
Taurus/Sable/SHO's because of cost. This would turn on the low fuel light at
the same point but still leave more fuel in those cars that had the 18
gallon tanks. It is the same part number for the sender regardless of tank
size and not just the SHO got the big tank.
