Yeah, growing up in Hawaii where fireworks are real big business, $500  
sounds just about right for an evening's ordnance.  Three times a  year:  New 
Year's, Chinese New Year's and 4th of July -- especially New  Year's.  The air is 
literally a thick fog of gunpowder smoke over the whole  island of Oahu if we 
don't have a decent tradewind.  Pets are still  creeping out of hiding a week 
later.
 
As for me, I'm in Shylo's camp.  The pyrotechnics and hi-power  rocketry mail 
lists are fun places to hang out this time of year.  The only  difference 
between men and boys is the (caliber) of their toys!
