I've not had any real problems with Autozone, and go there first when I need
things because they are closest to me. However when I needed serious stuff
like MAF, TPS, etc. I went to my local O'Reily's which had everything. Way
back when I needed plug wires I checked around and only the local NAPA had
them in stock, but they were $200. I had one wire with a damaged boot and
while talking with the guy at the counter he mentioned that he had once
wrapped a boot in electrical tape. I tried this and it worked, and
continued to work for 50k miles until I got a new set of Motorcraft wires
for a better price.
Autozone has everything listed on their computer so you don't have to argue
with the counter guy- just point to the screen. If it's not on their screen
then it doesn't matter because they won't be able to find it anyway.
Interesting thing about our local large O'Reilly's- they had several
hispanic girls working behind the counter but they knew their stuff and
could find parts for you. The few times I've been in the local PEP boys
they couldn't find anything.
Basically I go to the local autozone, if they don't have it I keep going
farther until I find what I want.
