Here's a story to backup what a lot of people are saying. Even though we
drive a "Taurus", SHO specific items are usually not stocked. If I need
something like a 2 row radiator or 90 amp alternator, they have to ship it
up from Miami which usually can occur in the same day if you place the
order early in the morning. For the alternator I just replaced, I went in
the night before and was told by the counter guy that I would receive it
at the store in 7 business day or something like that, or I could spend
another $20 to get it next day. (Now I had called before I went there and
was told I just need to buy it and it would show up the next day.)
Apparently the default ordering for parts like this works as such. At
this point I asked to speak to the store manager and he overrode what was
in the computer and I got what I needed. I buy most of these types of
parts from them because of the warranty, so it's good to make "friends"
with as many of these guys as you can. The daytime manager will also take
orders for me over the phone which is against their standard policy.
As a final foornote, the particular store I use here is quite clean and
well organized.
