Maybe not. You're assuming he's got the necessary clearance to the strut to
accommodate another inch of tire on the inside (i.e., more than 1" clearance
with the current wheel/tire setup).  That seems doubtful as I've got about
1/4" clearance to the strut on my '91 with 225-55 x 16 tires.
