Same in WI> We can take 15,000 and there are 100 or so. The Governor of WI
was told we are too far north.

Subject: Katrina, Peoria is ready, nobody wants to come!

For the last three days, the city of Peoria, IL has had volunteers, and
infrastructure ready to recieve up to 1000 Hurricane Katrina refugees.
But they may never come!

Seems that they would rather stay in Houston than move farthur from
their homes. I can understand this, but if they complain about being
packed together etc, then they have no excuse.

There is semi-permanent housing, medical and emotional staff, food,
clothing all ready to go, but no takers so far.

The latest word is some people may decide to come on Sunday or maybe
Monday, but that is what they said about Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
of this week.

The most average city (almost) in the US has its arms wide open....are
we that bad of company that a football stadium is better?

:)

Glad to live in boring, high and dry and flat Illinois.
