MessageTry some Auto RX. But it is a long term treatment. Takes about a 10k
mile initial treatment to really start seeing the benefits. But the engine
will just keep getting better.

  Subject: Cures for smelly exhaust?

    Guys,

My '92 has recently developed a very strong exhaust odor. There's no
smoke while running but there is every once in a while during cold start when
it emits a quick puff of gray smoke. Performance seems fine and mileage has
stayed at my regular 26 -27mpg.

What's the usual cause of this? I am assuming rings and that it's burning
oil as the consumption has increased to about 1 qt. per 2K.

Any quick fixes? I am going to do another round of Auto-Rx. Are there
any other snake-oil engine restorers that actually work?

    Thanks,

    Jim Estelle
