[Tigers] Engine paint

"why doesn't this body of Tiger owners get with the rest of the clubs and so
forth and make a best guess determination as to what can be considered right
and proper."

In part the problem is that it is a "work in progress." As more and more
people who can confirm original engine paint Ron Fraiser can closer
delineate various cut off points for changes in the Tigers. It is basically
one person volunteering their time (though it does seem a labor of love) to
gather information that is dependent upon owners being willing to bring
forth. I do think that it would be great if the "as of..." (such and such
a date) information was posted somewhere. But, that comes at a presenting
cost to somebody. And for all we know Ron may be creating his own book that
that would rightfully repay him for his efforts. Though he has graciously
been providing that information simply for being asked.

Next time I am over in Las Vegas with some time to kill, I will drop in at
Shelby American as see if they remember what color their original 260 cobra
engines were painted when received from ford if this will help to resolve
what seems to be an unanswerable question.

And failing that, why doesn't this body of Tiger owners get with the rest of
the clubs and so forth and make a best guess determination as to what can be
considered right and proper. Especially since most of the true knowledge
has died off and left no real trace evidence establishing correct colors.
Or since there does not seem to be a universally accepted body that defines
such, then any color in the ranges should be accepted as definitive for
collection and restoration purposes, don't ya think?

Alex
You are correct, mostly. All 260 engine blocks were painted
Semi-Gloss Black according to Bob Mannel's Book.

The problem is that the B19KC engine group spans into the 1966 Ford
Model year; Aug 1965. Ford changed to blue for the 1966 Model year. Ford
dropped the 260 engine for the 1965 Model year, Aug 1964, but kept building
260 engines for Rootes until the fall of 1965.

I seem to recall that all the Sunbeam Tiger 260 engines were black...
Am I wrong on this?
