[Zmagnette] Your humble servant...

Wow, Mike,
THAT is what I call a creative answer. My first instinct was to try to relate the functions of the compressor and vacuum cleaner. But as others have suggested, the "problem" is no doubt electrical. For those concerned, I have 200 amp service to my shop with #12 running to all 110 volt circuits and #10 running to the three 220 volt circuits. So I doubt if there is any fire hazard. But with two 220-volt heaters already running on separate 30-amp circuits, when the compressor kicks on (on a third 30-amp circuit), there is indeed a barely-perceptible drop in vacuum-cleaner motor speed. Without the heaters running, no change is perceptible.

That's all for today's "shop quiz". Mark B.: thanks for your occasional added remarks. We appreciate them. ' Glad you're listening!

Cheers,
Allen

I have a hard time believing that the compressor lowers the shop's air pressure enough to make the vacuum labor, but that's the only other idea I have besides John's electrical load explanation.

With outside temp moderating to around 30º F ( -1º C), my three little shop heaters make it very comfortable to work out there. I'm lovin' it! So, I'm bead-blasting away and I note that whenever the compressor cycles off, the vacuum cleaner on my cabinet speeds up slightly. Why?
