There's a guy in my local club who has a TR6 with a Pinto 2300 in it.
I was a bit put off at first, but he gets a lot more miles and
enjoyment out of his car then probably any 10 of us on this list. And
that's what it's all about. So Frank, it's your car, do whatever you
want and damn the torpedoes. You might get slagged a little from the
"purists", but you'll have the last laugh when the infamous Alpine
bottom end oil pressure problems rear their ugly head (the current
state of yours truly's Series 5).
