Exchanging engine

Hello

I have an 63' Alpine S2 with engine troubles. It run's always to hot even
without thermostat and it look's like I should have my engine fixed.

I have two choices: I could have my old engine redone (It's the original
one) or I have an offer for a redone engine (1725 cc) of an Alpine S4 for a
little more money.

Which way is the best?
