It probably goes without saying, but be sure to remove all carburetor
linkage that might get jammed up when you tilt the engine back to remove the
transmission. I've known at least one person who didn't - it wasn't a pretty
site.
Also, I always loosen the bolts holding the motor mounts. It doesn't
allow much extra movement, but it seems to be enough to help avoid tearing up
the mounts.
