Congratulations! I love to hear about another big fin Alpine on the road. As
far as the engine number goes, I will have to defer to the experts. Although
I do know that the series I and II engine did have Sunbeam on the valve
cover. I think they stopped that with the series III. I've only had mine for
about six months or so and I was lucky enough to find a series III GT with
the original engine. Much to my surprise as the owner told me that it was _
not_ the original engine. I of course didn't check. Why would you lie about
something like that?
