I tried to strip the top 2 or 3 layers of paint to determine the original color
of the dash. While the bottom layer was a blue that would have gone with the
wedgewood exterior, it was clearly applied after the instruments were
installed. I would have concluded that the dash was originally the bare black
plastic, but have seen several period B&W photos of S.II interiors where the
dash was clearly something other than black. Were painted dashboards possibly
a dealer or some other post factory modification? Does anybody know the story
on this? What are the original colors of the dashboards on the other S.IIs out
there?
