I would say the problem is in the slave end of the system. The slave
cylinder is having to over extend to disengage the driven plate in the
clutch. One option is to get a longer rod. That is the rod which comes out
of the slave cylinder, there were a couple of different lengths. Another
option is to afix the slave cylinder on the rear of the bell-housing instead
of the front. Do you know what I mean?

causing your problem. Don't rule out the master cylinder but it doesn't
