rear view mirror vibration

I have read of many a Sunbeam owner lament about their vibrating rear
view mirrors. I improved (but did not solve ) the problem by putting a
piece of rubber behind the mirror mount and then screwing the mirror on
somewhat loosely. The rubber I used was just a piece of fuel line hose
that I cut open. Does anyone have a rear view mirror that doesn't
vibrate. And if so, why not?

(So named because it is a Series II registered as a Series I and was
resurrected with a Series I tranny, Series V engine, seats from a '63 MGB,
and soon to have a Series II overdrive transmission installed with a Volvo
D type overdrive and MGB driveshaft. Hey, it runs well and looks great.)
