Perhaps, but you can't measure the air volume flowing in to the carb.
The carb Synch's will give you a fairly decent volume measurement which
can be hvery helpfull for dailing in carbs like the big SU's the old
Jag's use. I used to tune my Dad's 64 3.8 XKE by adjusting the volume
to the specs in the book, then "fine tune" matching all three carbs to
that standard. The Jag engines were very picky on flow and mixture
settings. A lot more than my Alpine ever was..
