Saying Hello

OK, I'll bite.
I'm a 51 year old man who lives in Cherry Hill NJ, USA and have had
my Alpine Series IV for 26 1/2 years. The story goes like this....

When I was in college, living in New York City in 1964, I bought a
BRG Series I. I loved it, but sold in after 2 years to get married.
After two years, I was married and living in Fort Worth, Texas and
needed a second car for work. I bought a Carnival Red Series IV
with 2 - Stromberg 150CDs from a Series V - Ser # B9403872 with 29k
miles. I bought it from an airline pilot who was the second owner.
Is anyone in this group that person?

I have used the car CONTINUOUSLY since the day I bought it in August,
1970. It is my "station car" and weekend runabout. Has anyone else
used there Alpine continuously for 26 -1/2 years? Since I put low
mileage on (3k/year), it still only has 97,000 miles on it. It has
gone through 2+ years in Texas, 4 years in Chicago and the last 20
years in the Philadelphia area, where it is a well established
landmark at the train station parking lot.

I was active in the old Sunbeam Car Club and TE/AE in the late 70's,
but am now a lurker, since my hobbies turned to computers. The car
runs well and has not been bit with the Lucas curse. I restored it
in 1980 and it needs some additional body work again. The motor had
rings and valves done 16 years ago as well, but except for that, had
only general maintenance done. I have all my receipts from my work
since 1970 in a database and it really does show that it was
economical to own.

The Strombergs are finally giving out, being unable to keep a tune
and I am contemplating a weber conversion. Well, that's about it.
Keep 'em on the road!
