When I read the E-Mail about the "thread" I just laughed to myself and
thought "nobody gives a &*&*%# about that stuff." Well, 20 some odd
E-mails have proven me wrong. Here's MTCW (my two cents worth):
I'm Kenny Owen from New Albany, Mississippi, age 31, married to Margaret
age 29, no kids just lots of cars to keep us company, Mechanical
Engineer by trade, University of Mississippi BSME, I have been declared
by my artist wife to be a certified Car Coo-Coo. I greww up with old
Fords and Chevy's and my first vehicle was a 1946 Ford Truck, which my
dad and I installed a Chevy engine, tranny, and rear end. I drove it
every day for six years and I still have it (future project). I am the
only person in my car club with a foreign car so I catch a lot of flak,
but my E-type will be ready in a few months and then they'll quit
laughing.
I curently have 9 vehicles;
1981 Mercedes 300TD station wagon (wifes)
1979 Triumph TR-7 convertible
1976 Triumph TR-7 parts car
1973 Mercedes 220 parts car
1971 Mercedes 220D (my daily driver at 315K and still going)
1968 Mercedes 250
1966 Jaguar E-Type Roadster (current project)
1965 Jaguar E-Type Roadster (future project or trade for other LBC)
1946 Ford Truck (with SB Chevy and powerglide)
I am currently 12 months into a total restoration of the 66 Jag and plan
to be finished in time for good weather in spring. Wife says she's
leaving if I get car number ten so I have to sell something in order to
purchase the 1965 Alpine up the street. Which bring me to a question:

The Alpine in question is in pretty good shape, minimal rust, bent left
front fender, needs paint, fair interior, fair top, etc. The part I
dont know about is this; It has a Ford Pinto engine installed. It runs
fine and I have heard of this swap being done. Anybody have an idea of
what this thing might be worth? The owner is asking 2K but I think
1400-1500 will buy it. What I really would like to do with it is
install a small block Ford and build myself a Tiger (copy). Are there
major differences between Alpine suspensions and Tiger suspensions that
would prevent me from doing this, or is it an easy swap?
It's been nice hearing from everybody. Have a Happy New Year and may
all your LBSs be free of Lucas disease (shorts and bad connection) in
the coming months.
