Hello,
My name is Mike Geertson, I live in snowy Erie PA. I own a red SeriesV which
I bought in Ohio at a car show/swap meet about a year and a half ago.
I'm 43 years old and reached that point in my life where I needed a toy. I
had made up my mind I wanted a British sports car, but getting a MG or
something similiar seemed too easy. When I was 10 years old my dad owned a
white Alpine and well....it seemed like the right thing for me. So far I'm
not sorry, even though I've spent more time under the hood then in the seat.
I am employed as the service director at a Volvo/BMW/Subaru dealership. I am
no mechanic, but work with 10 of them, so I get alot of free advice, but no
offers to get real involved in my project. Of course having lifts and tools
available to me at night or on weekends is a real plus. I have been reading
the E mail for this group for about one year now. I have been trying to get
somewhat educated before I start to ask the real stupid questions. Oh what
the hell, I'll ask one now.
I'm trying to remove the starter from my SeriesV, which I believe has
headers. I cannot get the starter all the way out without hitting the
headers. Should these have to come off first, in order to remove the
starter?
My daughter sent away to the Tigers East/Alpines East and got me the 97
calander for a Christmas present, it just came yesterday. With it was an
application to join their club. It looks very worthwhile. The literature
said their big meet is in Ontario this year. Thats only a few hours from me,
I'd love to go.
I've enjoyed learning about the rest of you and have picked up some great
tips in the last year from this group. Maybe someday I'll be experienced
enough to contribute.
Thanks
Mike
