Jay,

the over/drive waring light was white / opal, it sounds like your grey
one is the same. It should also flip between bright and dim (like main
beam).

I have not seen a blue / green one.

I think you are correct in that the series 5 had no warning lamp, but if
you have a hole in the dash......

The switch mounting was acheived by two black oval plates which were put
either side of the column apperture and tightened up using the nut on
the switch.
