Fuel Additives

Can any of you guys throw some light on the issue of lead additives for
unleaded petrol. New Zealand has recently removed lead based petrol and
we now have two unleaded types 91 Octane and 96 Octane. Obviously I need
to add lead but there is considerable debate at present as to whether or
not these additives will cause harm to the engine. There are lots of
horror stories about engines that have "blown" after a few months of
additive. Are the fuel line cannisters that put other metals (eg Tin)
into the fuel any good. Has any one had problems with additives in our
engines.
Thanks.Karl
