Chris and others,
I will "Introduce" myself. Been lurking on your board
for about a month now and have read most of the archives. (And drooled on
most of the pix).
Yes I have those darn Liberal tendencies. This is my second Alpine, the
first never made it on the road. Fortunately, I never had time to destroy
it or take it apart. Sold it after three months when my parents were
returning from living overseas and wrote "There will be no extra cars in
the yard when we get back!" I have lusted after one ever since though and
found a pretty rustfree "parts" car that looks to need almost everything.
The drivetrain is intact and it has Beautiful chromed bumpers with it.
About me. Software engineer who designs and codes SW for robots in the
wafer handling industry. Have owned 3 Fiats, a Spitfire, two Volvos, two
Bimmers, and now a 'beamer. For everyday transportation I drive a 91
Toyota PU (because I don't have to work on it) and my wive drives '87 Saab
9000 turbo. (How about that for a Alpine power plant swap?) (just
kidding). This is because when the baby came 19 months ago, all we had
was the Toyota and a Honda CRX. Not too many places to put a car seat
between them.
Like to drive drive fast and with the top down. Looking forward to putting
my daughter into a booster seat and letting her giggle like crazy in
daddy's green car.
Hope to meet OldeAlp and some of the people in SoCal for one of those
drives into Mexico. Sounds like fun. If there are any Alpine clubs here in
the south SF Bay area, I would like to know about them.
Met Rick of Sunbeam Specialties yesterday. Quite impressed.
Will have to figure out how to get a '66 SV through emmisions without
having to move to Montana.
That's all for now.
Hope to give and get advice from you'all.
