Tom,
Alpine Series cars (1960's) and the earlier Alpines and Sunbeam Talbots
(1953-55) all used the same transmission (gearbox) casting and the
tailpieces were the same.
I have a shifter from a 196? Alpine that bolts onto my 1954 Sunbeam Talbot
drophead coupe transmission and functions flawlessly. The two gearboxes are
virtually the same except when you get into the Tigers.
