Took the head off my car today and my suspicions were correct. There was
a crack on No. 3 cylinder by the sparkplug threads. The machine shop did
some welding there and it looks like they didn't fix it right.
The water mess (oil/water mixture) wasn't too bad to clean up. While
draining the oil, I saw very little water come out but the oil was that
creme color. All the internal parts seemed to clean up very easy. I do
have a question though.
After removing the tappet cover on the side of the engine I noticed two
bolts threaded into the block. What do these do? If I take them out will
something fall out? I looked in the manual but did not see any reference
to them.
Got my head set this week and hope to get the new head from Smitty's
next weekend. I sure hope it works right this time.
