Sticking Valve

Ok guys and gals...here's one for you.

I took the Series III this past weekend to the annual British car
meet at Chateau Elan near Atlanta Ga. There were about ten Sunbeams
there including the one with air conditioning. All in all,
approximately 500 LBC's made an appearance.

However, fate would strike a heavy blow. My #1 intake valve stuck in
the open position. After limping into the parking lot, I removed the
valve cover and used the Ford tool (hammer) to free it up. Now, it
will work for a few minutes and stick again. In my 18 years of Alpine
pleasure, I have never experienced this type of problem.

Here is my question...Is this problem indicative of a bent valve? Is
it the valve guide? Could it be a problem with using no-lead gasoline?
Could it be a upper end lubrication problem? (I doubt the latter due
to the amount of oil that gets squirted through the tappets.

I have not removed the head, but am planning on doing so tonight. Any
responses that can be sent today would be greatly appreciated.
