     Maybe its time to start the 'AAC', Alpine Authentication Committee, to
     ensure that Alpines have the correct engines and tags attached by the
     original rivets. We don't want no stinkin' re-engine cars.

Paul,
The engine serial nuber originally matched the chassis number (the VIN).
Therefore, the number B 395002810 should be found stamped into a small
section of the block facing up right in front of the oil filter. Because
of location, it might be covered with grime. If the number isn't the same,
the engine has been swapped. Or the bodies been swapped. Oh, this isn't
the Tiger mail list, sorry.. Look for you numbers where I indicated and
somebody will probably post you telling when your car was made. I know I
got a '65 Christmas car. for better or for worse.
     
What ARE you going to do with all these Alps????
