The original Zeniths are rock-tough and are readily rebuilt, though
scrambling for parts can be a problem. Both Strombergs and Zeniths are
made by the same company, and the English home factory used to welcome
small overseas orders, though I haven't ordered from them in a decade.
The Solexes used on the Series IV have one significant advantage: much of
this carburetter is shared with those used on VW Beetles from first to
last. The difference is that the external parts on the 'British-Made'
Alpine two-barrel are all in SAE. I used to blow the minds of VW mechanics
by using an Alpine main-jet holder on my VW's -- the mechanics would flip
out when they found out it wasn't metric ...
