Theresia and I were there too.

That was Tom Sakaii in the yellow Tiger, running third the whole race
behind two very well-prepared and extensively campaigned hot-shot
'vettes, according to Dan Walters.

That was Steve Alcala, racing without a roll bar and no harness--nothing
but a lap belt!
Last year he drove his point-fin Alpine, and he has a roll bar and
harness in it. We gots to talk to that man some more!

Yeah, what a surprise! We didn't see that car in the program, and when
he went buy us at turn four I made sure that everybody around us knew
damn well that THAT was indeed a "proper" Sunbeam Talbot-Alpine!
Theresia and I went looking for the car in the paddock after his race
but couldn't find him anywhere. Maybe he drove it right into a close
trailer and locked it up?
> While all the other cars went by with engines roaring, the Proper
Alpine just hummed on by.
The guy had his arm up on the door and was driving with one hand coming
through turn three, under the Michelin bridge, and through turn four . .
. looked like he was more out for a Sunday drive than racing. I don't
think I'd have been piloting ous that way . . . hey, even at that, he
didn't finish LAST!
