Digital speedos, are tach circuits with digital readout.
They use timed rotation as a medium for measuring the rate of speed.
Back in the old days of germanium transistors and leaky caps, tach
circuits were inferior to mechanical tachs.
Today, with beter parts and designs, evem the most shoddy of tachs
are orders of magnetude more stabile than the old "smiths" variety.
Thus with todays digital speedos, you will find that if you dont
alter the size of the tires, or gear ratio, the speedo, should be
extreemely repeatable, if not accurate, for as long as the electonics
work.
