I had a problem with my Series V fuel and temp gauge until an old Alpine
friend told me that there is a voltage/current regualtor for the
instruments. He said that this is supposed to keep the readings from
fluctuating. You might want to check/replace it, I think I paid around
$15.00 for mine....seemed to do the trick.
