Since it seems intractable to get a printed version going, I sat down
for an hour or so and made a digital one. Actually just January-March,
to prove the concept. Time for bed now, and I will finish it off later.

Prepare to wait a bit: each month's image is a near-200k JPEG, 600x400.
If you have 12 images and some time to edit a dozen files (lightly),
this format could be adapted to make your own calendar. From Netscape 3,
everything but the last row of a 5-row month (like January) prints on a
single laser-printed 8.5x11 page. With legal paper through a colour
printer, and a cutter, you'd have some 'beams for the year.
